Why Roofing Repair Safety Tips?
Roof falls can be, and are one of the leading causes of injury or death for contractors and homeowners alike. Take precautions to help lessen your risks of injury or even death.
Follow roofing safety procedures before you get on the roof. Take note of any possible dangerous area around your roof. Like power lines, unsafe access areas, loose rain gutters, etc…
Once on the roof, do the following:
Check Your Roof
· Check to see if your work area is clean, keep your project organized and safely away from pets and children.
· Never work on your roof when the roof is slippery or wet.
· Avoid roof repair during real hot or cold weather. Extreme temperatures can cause shingles to become damaged or loose and become a safety hazard.
· Be sure to wear soft soled shoes or footwear for good traction.
Safety Gear
Buy some safety gear and equipment to avoid accidents. It should be available at a home improvement store. Such as a harness, ropes, with a roof anchor. To attached to the framing of the roof structure. Toe boards & brackets that to walk on, are great for roof safety.
Be sure to use the correct height ladder. Proper ladder set up in a safe clear space is very important. Inspect your ladder for any damage, such as loose footings or broken parts. Put your ladder in a clear area that you are anchoring to. A solid roof access point and awareness of loose gutters is super important as well. Examine your footing on the roof at all times. Always noting broken or slipped tiles, crumbled mortar, leaky solar panels or moss growth.
